The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Benton Harbor, MI, is dedicated to nurturing passionate individuals who aspire to drive change in the food system through social, economic, and environmental justice. Our program offers comprehensive, hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm, equipping Fellows to become effective educators and advocates for a sustainable food future. We believe in making this transformative experience accessible, which is why we do not charge tuition. Participants engage in growing and distributing diverse crops, facilitating innovative health education sessions, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy in schools. Furthermore, they actively support local farmers markets and work on initiatives aimed at enhancing access to healthy food within the community. After a six-month immersive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their skills and make a tangible impact. We encourage interested individuals to apply by March each year to take part in this pivotal, year-long journey beginning in May.
