Valerie Wood

Valerie Wood is a compassionate Clinical Social Worker and Therapist, holding credentials as an LMSW, CST, and CST-S. She believes that the decision to engage in therapy reflects a genuine interest in becoming more grounded and present in one’s life. With a focus on trauma and PTSD, relationship issues, and sex therapy, Valerie understands that everyone possesses a unique set of strengths and challenges that influence their experiences in relationships. Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and encompasses a variety of modalities, including psychodynamic, sensorimotor, and mindfulness-based techniques. By adopting a practical, here-and-now perspective, she thoughtfully considers the effects of relational, cultural, and early childhood experiences on her clients. Additionally, Valerie has achieved Level 1 Basic Training in Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR. She extends her expertise to individuals grappling with grief and loss, depression, and body image acceptance. As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, Valerie skillfully navigates intimacy and relationship concerns. She assists clients in addressing issues related to desire and arousal, identity and expression, and sexual pain or discomfort. Her practice celebrates the diversity of sexual identities and expressions, welcoming LGBTQIA+, Queer, gender-expansive, and non-monogamous clients with warmth and acceptance.
