Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Oakland, MD, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become advocates for a fair and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers a comprehensive, tuition-free program that focuses on organic food system education and practical experience. Fellows engage in a six-month residential training at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where they learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement health innovation education, and enhance community gardens. The program emphasizes food and ecological literacy, supporting local farmers' markets and developing distribution channels to increase access to healthy foods. After their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their skills. Applications are due by March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October, fostering a network of change-makers passionate about building a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system.
