Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in North East, MD, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of food system advocates and educators. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this Fellowship provides a comprehensive, tuition-free experience that empowers selected Fellows to engage deeply with issues of social, environmental, and economic justice within our food systems. Over a six-month immersive program at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, participants gain hands-on education in organic farming, community gardening, and food literacy, while also learning to mentor others. Our Fellows collaborate with local non-profits to implement innovative healthcare educational sessions, maintain gardens, support farmers markets, and develop distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods. Applications for this transformative opportunity are accepted until March each year, with a program running from May to October, making a lasting impact on both the Fellows and the communities they serve.
