Located in Elkton, MD, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers individuals to become passionate advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this innovative program offers Fellows the opportunity to engage in six months of hands-on, experiential learning at the picturesque Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, followed by a Community Action Year where they can apply their transformative training in collaboration with local non-profit organizations. The Fellowship emphasizes organic food system education and prioritizes accessibility by charging no tuition. Participants may engage in a variety of impactful initiatives, such as growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing health-focused educational sessions, maintaining school and community gardens, integrating food and ecological literacy into school curricula, supporting farmers markets, and developing strategies to increase access to healthy food. Apply by March for an experience that runs from May through October and becomes part of a dedicated community that champions social, environmental, and economic justice in food systems.
