Fern Cohen

Fern Cohen is a Clinical Social Worker and Therapist with a vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment to lifelong learning. She earned dual Master's degrees in Social Work and Jewish Studies from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 1991, also completing the prestigious Baltimore Institute of Jewish Communal Service program. Over the years, Fern has joyfully contributed to various nonprofit organizations as an educator, community organizer, and social worker. Together with her loving husband, she has raised three wonderful children, who are now thriving young adults. Fern embraces the unique gifts of her autistic son and finds immense fulfillment in volunteering and offering therapy to autistic teens and adults. As a Certified Autism Specialist (CAS), she champions neurodiversity and advocates for a strength-based approach. Fern is particularly passionate about supporting autistic individuals on their journeys towards self-identity, self-advocacy, relationships, and communication. To further enhance her skills, she has obtained an Advanced Trauma Treatment certification through the Ferentz Institute. With expertise in family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Fern offers individual, couple, and family therapy sessions with sincerity and compassion.
