Located in Cambridge, MD, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers individuals to champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers a transformative six-month, hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, followed by a Community Action Year where fellows actively engage with local non-profits. The program is tuition-free, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring advocates. Participants receive comprehensive education in organic food systems, learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, and implement innovative health care workshops, alongside managing school and community gardens. Fellows also enhance food literacy in educational settings, support farmers markets, and contribute to community food coalitions, paving the way for healthier food access across the region. Applications are accepted until March each year for experiences running from May to October.
