Dr. Shilpa Saroop is dedicated to helping others discover greater enjoyment and peace of mind. She collaborates with clients to uncover sources of worry, unhappiness, and self-criticism, while focusing on their strengths to create a fulfilling life. Utilizing a combination of family systems, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, self-compassion, psychodynamic, and mindfulness approaches, Dr. Saroop works with individuals, couples, families, and first and second-generation immigrants in a compassionate environment. With a special focus on relationship concerns and life transitions, she serves as an Associate Professor in the Women's Mental Health Program at Georgetown University, School of Medicine, where she specializes in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, grief/loss, and supporting parents whose babies are in or have been in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Dr. Saroop believes in the importance of kindness and compassion within therapy, recognizing that comfort is vital during the therapeutic process. To ease the transition into therapy, she encourages prospective clients to engage in a brief introductory conversation to address any questions and foster a sense of ease.
