Dorothy Thea Farrell is a seasoned counselor with over 25 years of experience working with adults, children, adolescents, families, and couples. She is dedicated to helping individuals and families identify the areas of their lives they wish to improve and guiding them towards effective strategies for change. Dorothy views each client holistically, employing a strength-based perspective in her therapeutic approach. She offers a welcoming traditional office space for counseling as well as Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) through Healing Through the Horse, although EFP services are currently on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With certification as a Diplomate and Clinical Mental Health Specialist in Trauma, and as a Diplomate in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Dorothy is recognized for her advanced level of EFP. Her leadership roles include serving as the Former President of the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association for two terms, and being appointed to the Diplomate Committee of the American Mental Health Counselors Association in June 2015. In 2016, she received the prestigious MaMHCA LMHC of the Year award, underscoring her commitment to excellence in mental health counseling.
