Dr. Sandra Mattar, a seasoned therapist, brings her expertise in supporting adults and elders navigating life's challenges. Affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center, Dr. Mattar understands that many individuals seek therapy when they feel trapped with seemingly no options. She recognizes that these feelings can often arise from unresolved trauma, relationship misunderstandings, accumulated stress, a lack of self-compassion, identity confusion, and unmet needs. In her practice, she fosters a safe and authentic space where clients are encouraged to explore their emotions and issues, promoting self-agency, self-compassion, and self-love. Her specialties encompass trauma (PTSD, intergenerational trauma, dissociation), multicultural psychology, immigration and acculturation issues, and mindfulness, along with spiritual matters and somatic work. With training in psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Buddhist psychologies, combined with her qualifications as a certified 500-hour yoga teacher, Dr. Mattar offers a unique and holistic perspective on client challenges, merging Western psychological principles with Eastern yogic practices and Tibetan medicine traditions.
