Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Ville Platte, LA US
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Ville Platte, LA, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a food system that embraces social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program offers a unique, hands-on experience where selected Fellows engage in six months of immersive learning at the Allegheny Farm, focusing on organic agriculture and sustainable food practices. We believe in making this vital training accessible to all, which is why we do not charge tuition. As part of their journey, Fellows gain practical skills in growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing educational programs, maintaining community gardens, and fostering food and ecological literacy within schools. Our initiative also supports the development of local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer food sales, ensuring increased access to healthy foods. Following their training, Fellows participate in a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to make a tangible impact. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
