Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Tickfaw, LA, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. We offer a unique, tuition-free opportunity for fellows to engage in organic food system education, where they can learn to grow and distribute diverse crops on a market-style farm, implement innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and teach food and ecological literacy. Our program emphasizes hands-on experience through a six-month residential Farm and Food Study at AMI's campus, followed by a Community Action Year, where fellows apply their skills in collaboration with local non-profits. This initiative not only fosters food assistance but also strengthens community food systems by supporting farmers markets and enhancing access to healthy foods. We welcome applicants each year until March, with the program typically running from May to October.
