The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Slidell, LA empowers aspiring leaders to champion a food system that is just, sustainable, and equitable. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers comprehensive training without tuition costs to ensure accessibility for all participants. Over six months at our immersive Farm and Food Study, Fellows gain hands-on experience in organic farming and food education, and they work collaboratively with local non-profits during their Community Action Year to promote healthy food access and ecological literacy. Projects may include growing and distributing diverse crops, hosting educational sessions in innovative healthcare, managing community gardens, and supporting farmers' markets. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of food advocates who are equipped to make a positive impact in their communities.
