The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Natchitoches, LA, is dedicated to cultivating a generation of advocates and educators focused on building a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Through immersive, hands-on training at our Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage in organic food system education and learn to grow and distribute diverse crops on a market-style farm. The Fellowship is designed to be accessible, with no tuition fees, ensuring that passionate individuals can participate and implement projects that promote healthy food access. During their experience, Fellows partner with local organizations to run educational sessions in innovative health care, maintain community gardens, and integrate food literacy into school curricula. Additionally, they support farmers markets and develop distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods. Following their six-month immersive study, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits to make a lasting impact. Applications are open until March each year, with the program typically running from May to October.
