The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Monroe, LA, is dedicated to fostering a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Our program empowers aspiring leaders through comprehensive training and hands-on experiences at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. With a commitment to accessibility, we proudly offer our fellowship without tuition fees, allowing diverse individuals to engage with organic food system education and community-building initiatives. Fellows work collaboratively with partners to cultivate and distribute a variety of crops, conduct educational sessions in innovative healthcare, maintain community gardens, and enrich local school activities with food and ecological literacy. They play a vital role in enhancing access to nutritious foods by supporting farmers markets and directing consumer programs. After an immersive six-month residential experience, Fellows enter a Community Action Year where they implement their knowledge in partnership with regional non-profits. Interested applicants should submit their applications by March, with the fellowship experience occurring from May to October.
