The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Kaplan, LA, is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders who advocate for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this hands-on program provides participants with transformative education in organic agriculture and the principles of food equity. Our Fellows engage in vital projects such as growing and distributing diverse crops on market-style farms, facilitating community health education, and managing local gardens to bolster food literacy and security. We prioritize accessibility by offering this fellowship without tuition costs, enabling passionate individuals to immerse themselves in experiential learning at our Allegheny Farm Campus. After six months of intensive training, each Fellow embarks on a Community Action Year, applying their skills in partnership with regional non-profits to foster food assistance initiatives and support community-driven food coalitions. We invite individuals interested in this impactful journey to apply by March of the application year, as our programs typically run from May to October.
