Backpack Program

The Backpack Program in Homer, LA, part of the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, is dedicated to addressing childhood hunger by providing essential food assistance to chronically hungry children. Each week, we offer a carefully packed backpack filled with nutritious food weighing between 7 to 10 pounds. These backpacks include easy-to-open items like granola bars, fruit juice, and pop-top canned foods, ensuring that children have reliable access to meals during weekends and holidays. Our mission is clear: to meet the basic nutritional needs of children in our community and help them thrive.
