The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Hammond, LA, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. By sponsoring and training dedicated Fellows, we empower them to engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, all without tuition fees to ensure accessibility. Our comprehensive program offers organic food system education and valuable opportunities, such as growing and distributing diverse crops, leading innovative health education sessions, maintaining community gardens, and teaching food and ecological literacy in schools. Fellows also support local farmers markets, create distribution channels for healthy food access, and participate in community food coalition activities. This transformative experience includes six months of immersive training followed by a Community Action Year, where Fellows can apply their skills alongside regional non-profit organizations. Applications are open until March, with the program running from May to October.
