In Destrehan, LA, Food for Families / Food for Seniors, a vital program of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans (CCANO), is dedicated to supporting seniors in need through monthly nutritional food boxes and educational resources. We provide essential food assistance to those eligible, ensuring that each food box is packed with nutritious items like canned meats, fruits, vegetables, breakfast staples, and shelf-stable milk, all designed to promote healthy eating habits. Alongside these monthly deliveries, we offer practical nutrition education that empowers seniors with knowledge about budgeting for food, meal planning, and easy-to-make recipes that utilize commodity foods. Our mission is to foster health and independence in our community’s older adults, helping them live well on a limited budget.
