The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Destrehan, LA, is dedicated to nurturing future leaders who advocate for a food system grounded in social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program offers an immersive six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm, where selected fellows receive comprehensive training in organic food systems, community engagement, and food literacy. Without charging any tuition, we ensure that our fellowship is accessible to all who are passionate about making a difference. Our participants engage in hands-on projects, such as growing diversified crops, implementing health education sessions, and supporting community gardens and farmers markets, all aimed at increasing access to nutritious foods. Following their training, fellows enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their skills and advocate for change. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October, providing a unique opportunity to impact local food systems and communities.
