Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is dedicated to providing essential food assistance to low-income households in Wichita, KS, and across Kansas. Operated by the Kansas Department for Children and Families, TEFAP distributes free USDA commodity foods, including canned vegetables, fruits, juices, meats, cereals, and more, ensuring families receive nourishing options to meet their basic nutritional needs. With shipments occurring five to six times a year to local participating organizations, each household can receive between four to ten items per shipment. To access this vital emergency food support, clients are encouraged to apply within their home counties, ensuring that help is both accessible and responsive to community needs.
