Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is dedicated to ensuring that low-income households in Russell, Kansas, have access to essential food resources. Operated by the Kansas Department for Children and Families, TEFAP distributes free USDA commodity foods to those in need, delivering nutritious options such as canned vegetables, fruits, juices, meat, cereal, peanut butter, nonfat dry milk, and pasta. With shipments occurring five to six times a year to local organizations for distribution, each household receives between four to ten items to help meet their basic nutritional requirements.
