Located in Newton, KS, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers aspiring advocates and educators to champion a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. By providing free tuition and immersive training at the Allegheny Farm Campus, the Fellowship fosters expertise in organic agriculture and community engagement. Fellows gain hands-on experience through diverse initiatives, including growing and distributing crops, implementing educational health care sessions, maintaining community gardens, teaching food and ecological literacy, and enhancing access to healthy foods through farmer's markets and direct-to-consumer programs. After an intensive six-month program, participants transition into a Community Action Year, where they actively collaborate with regional non-profits to apply their learnings and inspire local food solutions. Applications are open until March each year, with the Fellowship running from May through October.
