Vanessa Knight

Vanessa Knight, the co-owner and clinician of Secure Counseling Clinic, has called the Kansas City area home for over 18 years, sharing her life with her husband, four children, and their beloved dogs, Nalu, Rontu, and Sven. A Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NCC), Vanessa is also a nationally Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) and a KS board-approved clinical supervisor. Specializing in helping couples and families develop secure attachments, she is dedicated to supporting clients through relationship challenges and emotional pain. Vanessa is trained as a Certified Emotion-Focused Therapist (ICEEFT.com) and holds a Certificate in Interpersonal Neurobiology from Portland State University. With six years of full-time experience working with families before opening her private practice, she also offers EMDR therapy for both children and adults. As a Level I AEDP clinician and a TBRI Educator/clinician through the Karyn Purvis Institute for Child Development, she focuses on supporting adoptive and foster families. Vanessa has worked with families who have adopted both locally and from over 25 different countries, enriching her expertise through a masters-level internship at Solace House, a center dedicated to grief counseling.
