Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) in Leavenworth, KS, serves to uplift low-income households by providing complimentary USDA commodity foods, ensuring no one goes hungry in our community. We distribute nutritious essentials such as canned vegetables, fruit, juice, meat, cereal, peanut butter, nonfat dry milk, and pasta, with each household receiving between four to ten different items per shipment. Facilitated by the Kansas Department for Children and Families, TEFAP shipments occur five to six times a year through various participating organizations that make food assistance readily available. To access this vital support, clients are encouraged to apply in their home county, bringing hope and nourishment to those in need throughout Kansas.
