Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), operated by the Kansas Department for Children and Families, is dedicated to combating hunger in Haysville, KS, and throughout the state by providing essential food assistance to low-income households. Through regular shipments of nutritious USDA commodity foods, TEFAP ensures that families receive the nourishment they need, including items like canned vegetables, fruit, juice, meat, cereal, peanut butter, nonfat dry milk, and pasta. Each participating household can receive between four to ten different food items per delivery, enabling them to meet their basic nutritional needs. Eligibility for this crucial support requires an application to be submitted in the client’s home county, allowing us to efficiently reach those who need help the most.
