The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fort Scott, KS, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through hands-on training and empowerment, our Fellows gain valuable skills in organic food systems education, working collaboratively with local partners to grow and distribute diverse crops while supporting community initiatives. Our program emphasizes the importance of food literacy, mentorship, and community engagement—enabling Fellows to implement educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and foster direct-to-consumer programs. We strive to increase access to healthy foods and promote environmental stewardship, ensuring that our approach is socially, economically, and ecologically responsible. The Fellowship combines a six-month experiential study period at the Allegheny Farm Campus with a Community Action Year, where participants translate their learning into impactful community service, all without any tuition fees to maintain accessibility. Applications are welcome until March each year, with the Fellowship experience taking place from May through October.
