Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), administered by the Kansas Department for Children and Families, is dedicated to alleviating food insecurity across Fort Leavenworth, KS, by providing free USDA commodity foods to low-income households. Through five to six shipments a year, TEFAP delivers essential food items, including canned vegetables, fruits, juice, meat, cereals, peanut butter, nonfat dry milk, and pasta, ensuring families have access to nutritious meals. Each household can receive between four to ten different food items per shipment, helping to meet their basic dietary needs. To access these vital food assistance services, individuals are encouraged to apply through their home county, where local organizations are ready to support their journey toward food stability.
