Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is dedicated to providing vital food assistance to low-income households in Clay Center, KS, and across the state. Operated by the Kansas Department for Children and Families, TEFAP distributes free USDA commodity foods through local organizations multiple times a year, ensuring families receive the nutrition they need. With each delivery, participants can access essential items such as canned vegetables, fruits, juices, meats, cereals, peanut butter, nonfat dry milk, and pasta, with each household receiving between four to ten nutritious food items. To benefit from this program, clients are encouraged to apply in their home county, fostering a compassionate support system for those facing food insecurity in our community.
