Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

In Cheney, KS, the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) connects low-income households with essential USDA commodity foods at no cost. Coordinated by the Kansas Department for Children and Families, TEFAP distributes nutritious food staples to eligible families through local organizations five to six times a year. Our commitment is to provide a variety of items, including canned vegetables, fruits, juices, meat, cereals, peanut butter, nonfat dry milk, and pasta, ensuring that each shipment meets the basic nutritional needs of our clients. Households may receive between four and ten food items per delivery, and we encourage those in need to apply through their home county to access this vital food assistance program.
