Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is dedicated to combating food insecurity in Cheney, KS, by providing free USDA commodity foods to low-income households. This vital program ensures that families receive essential food assistance, with shipments of nutritious items such as canned vegetables, fruit, cereal, and protein delivered five to six times a year to local organizations for distribution. Each household can receive a minimum of four and up to ten food items per shipment, ensuring that basic nutritional needs are met. To access TEFAP, individuals must apply in their home county, allowing us to extend our reach and support to those who need it most in our community.
