Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Washington, IN, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates and educators for an equitable and sustainable food system. Through a hands-on, immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, selected Fellows engage in organic food system education, mentoring, and practical initiatives that enhance community food access. This transformative program emphasizes experiential learning without tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Participants will grow and distribute diverse crops, develop educational sessions, maintain gardens, and foster ecological literacy in schools. By collaborating with local non-profits during their Community Action Year, they put theory into practice, supporting farmers markets, community food coalitions, and various initiatives aimed at improving food assistance pathways. Applications are accepted until March for the following year’s program, running from May to October, inviting passionate individuals to join the mission of creating a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system.
