At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Bedford, IN, we are dedicated to nurturing our future leaders in sustainable agriculture and food justice. Through our immersive program, we provide aspiring advocates with the education and hands-on experience needed to create a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Selected Fellows participate in a six-month experiential residency at Allegheny Farm, where they engage in organic food system education, learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health care education, and support vital initiatives like farmers markets and community gardens. Our Fellowship prioritizes accessibility, with no tuition fees required, ensuring that participants can focus on developing food and ecological literacy while advocating for increased access to healthy food within their communities. The journey continues with a Community Action Year, allowing Fellows to apply their skills in partnership with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
