The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Auburn, IN, empowers passionate individuals to become educators and advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This unique program, hosted by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, offers organic food system education without the burden of tuition, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Participants engage in hands-on experiences at the Allegheny Farm, learning to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health care educational sessions, and foster vibrant school and community gardens. They will also enhance food and ecological literacy, support farmers markets, and develop effective distribution channels to increase access to healthy foods. Throughout their six-month residential program, and subsequent Community Action Year, Fellows collaborate closely with regional non-profits to apply their skills in real-world settings, making a lasting impact in their communities. Applications are accepted until March for a program running from May to October, and we invite all dedicated individuals to join us in transforming local food systems.
