The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Waukegan, IL, is dedicated to fostering a more just and equitable food system by sponsoring, training, and empowering passionate individuals to become advocates and educators in sustainable agriculture. Our fellowship offers a unique opportunity for selected participants to immerse themselves in a six-month experiential program at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they will learn about organic food systems and develop practical skills in growing and distributing diverse crops. Throughout their journey, Fellows will engage with local communities to implement educational initiatives, maintain school gardens, and enhance food literacy among students. Our commitment to accessibility means that there is no tuition fee for the fellowship, ensuring that anyone interested can join. After their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge alongside regional non-profits to support farmers markets and improve access to healthy foods. Applications for this transformative experience are due by March each year, with the program running from May to October.
