Dr. Mary Rizzo is a dedicated post-doctoral resident with a passion for utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a cornerstone of her practice. Her approach emphasizes the acceptance of life's unavoidable challenges and encourages clients to stay present, minimizing the burdens of past regrets and future anxieties. In addition to ACT, she incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help her clients cultivate essential skills for navigating daily life effectively. These skills encompass managing emotions such as fear and sadness, improving communication abilities, and addressing distress with resilience. Dr. Rizzo is committed to identifying and nurturing her clients' strengths, fostering self-compassion through a positive perspective. She specializes in working with adolescents, adults, and families, with particular focus on grief and loss, trauma, life transitions, and relationship concerns. Additionally, she provides comprehensive psychological testing to evaluate intellectual functioning, academic challenges, ADHD-related symptoms, learning styles, and clinical diagnoses. With a resolute passion for supporting individuals across the lifespan, she is especially dedicated to assisting adolescents and young adults in exploring their identities, values, relationship dynamics, trauma experiences, and gender identity concerns.
