The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Saint Charles, IL, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates who are committed to advancing a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program empowers selected Fellows through comprehensive organic food system education, offering the opportunity to engage in hands-on experiences at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, without any tuition costs to ensure accessibility. Throughout their six-month residency, Fellows will learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, develop community gardens, and enhance food literacy in educational settings. They will also support local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, fostering greater access to healthy food across the region. The fellowship culminates in a Community Action Year, during which participants apply their skills in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship program running from May to October.
