The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Plainfield, IL empowers individuals to become passionate advocates and educators for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program provides comprehensive organic food system education, allowing selected Fellows to immerse themselves in a six-month experiential residency at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, where they delve into sustainable agriculture practices and community engagement. Participants will learn to grow and distribute diversified crops, implement innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and enrich school programs with food and ecological literacy. The fellowship also fosters mentorship opportunities for incoming Fellows and encourages active participation in food coalition activities, farmers markets, and direct-to-consumer distributions to enhance access to healthy foods. With a commitment to accessibility, the Fellowship is offered at no cost, and applications are welcome until March each year for the experience running from May to October.
