The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lake Villa, IL, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates for a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Through our comprehensive program, we offer selected Fellows a unique six-month experiential learning opportunity at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where they receive invaluable organic food system education and hands-on training. Fellows engage with local communities to grow and distribute diversified crops, implement health-focused educational sessions, maintain gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in schools. They also support farmers markets, develop distribution channels for healthy foods, and mentor future Fellows. Our initiative emphasizes accessibility, as we do not charge tuition, ensuring a diverse range of participants can join us in creating impactful community food solutions. Applications are open until March each year for a fellowship experience running from May to October, making a practical commitment to improving food accessibility and education.
