Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Lake In The Hills, IL US
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lake In The Hills, IL, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators in the realm of sustainable food systems. Through a unique, hands-on training program, we empower selected Fellows to become proficient in promoting a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our fellowship provides comprehensive education on organic farming practices, alongside opportunities to engage in community initiatives such as crop distribution, educational workshops on health, and the maintenance of community gardens. Fellows also learn to integrate food and ecological literacy into local schools, support farmers' markets, and develop innovative pathways for increased access to healthy food. Over a transformative six-month period at our Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year working with regional non-profits, our participants gain valuable experience that enables them to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Applications are welcomed until March each year for the program running from May to October.
