The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Highland Park, IL, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of educators and advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program provides an accessible opportunity for participants to engage in organic food system education and hands-on training without any tuition costs. Over six months at our picturesque Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows immerse themselves in diverse agricultural practices, community gardening, and innovative health education initiatives. After completing their fellowship, these passionate individuals embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills to partner with local non-profits engaged in vital efforts such as supporting farmers markets, enhancing food access, and integrating food literacy into educational settings. Applications are accepted until March each year, with experiences running from May through October, ensuring a practical, impactful journey into the world of food justice and community empowerment.
