The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Freeport, IL, is dedicated to nurturing passionate leaders who advocate for a food system grounded in social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program empowers selected Fellows through immersive, hands-on education in organic food systems at the Allegheny Farm. With no tuition costs, we prioritize accessibility to this transformative experience. Over six months, participants engage in diverse activities such as growing and distributing crops, implementing innovative health education, and fostering ecological literacy in schools. Our Fellows actively support community gardens and farmers markets, develop vital distribution channels for healthy foods, and contribute to community food coalitions. Following their training, they embark on a Community Action Year partnering with local non-profits to implement their knowledge and skills. Applications are accepted until March for this impactful program, which runs from May through October.
