The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in East Saint Louis, IL, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates and educators for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Through extensive training and hands-on experience at Allegheny Farm, our Fellows receive comprehensive organic food system education without the burden of tuition, ensuring accessibility for all passionate individuals. Over six months, Fellows engage in a transformative journey that allows them to grow diversified crops, implement health-focused educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and foster food and ecological literacy in local schools. Furthermore, they support farmers markets and develop vital distribution channels to enhance access to nutritious foods, all while mentoring the next cohort of leaders. Our program culminates in a Community Action Year, where Fellows apply their skills in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations, making a tangible impact in the community. Applications are accepted until March for experiences running from May to October each year, inviting enthusiastic changemakers to join us in reshaping our food systems.
