The FRESH START Diabetes Prevention Program, based in Des Plaines, IL, offers vital support for adults at risk of developing diabetes through comprehensive group and individual services. Operated by Loyola Medicine, this program is accessible to patients from Loyola, MacNeal Hospital, Gottlieb practices, and local communities. Participants will gain access to a CDC-approved curriculum and receive essential coaching, health education, and peer support in a welcoming environment. With the guidance of trained lifestyle coaches, individuals will learn practical skills to lose weight, increase physical activity, and manage stress effectively. Our year-long program starts with 16 weekly meetings, transitioning to bi-weekly and monthly sessions to help participants sustain their healthy lifestyle. To join this free program, individuals must score 5 or higher on the CDC Self-Assessment Quiz or have a prediabetes diagnosis from their healthcare provider. Currently, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all classes are held online, ensuring continued access to those seeking to prevent diabetes.
