Located in Dekalb, IL, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship empowers passionate individuals to become advocates and educators for a just and sustainable food system. Through a comprehensive, hands-on training program at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Virginia, Fellows receive crucial instruction in organic farming practices and the principles of food justice, free of tuition fees to ensure accessibility for all. Participants engage in a six-month immersive experience, collaborating with local communities and regional non-profits to implement innovative health education, maintain community and school gardens, and promote the integration of food and ecological literacy into educational activities. Additionally, Fellows contribute to the growth and distribution of diverse crops, bolster farmers markets, and develop strategies to enhance access to healthy foods within the community. Our program culminates in a Community Action Year, encouraging Fellows to apply their skills and knowledge to effect positive change in their regions.
