David Crowley

David Crowley is a compassionate and experienced Clinical Social Worker and Therapist, LCSW, who has been providing psychotherapy in his private practice since 2016. With a rich background of 25 years at the University of Illinois, McKinley Health Center, Mental Health Department, he was part of a dedicated clinical team that included three Psychiatrists, two Psychologists, and two Clinical Social Workers. David frequently collaborates with Physicians to create comprehensive care plans focused on incorporating non-pharmacological coping skills for anxiety and mood management. While he acknowledges the role of medication, David places great importance on addressing situational factors and fostering the development of coping skills to effectively tackle his clients' challenges. He specializes in treating anxiety disorders, including panic attacks, social anxiety, excessive worry, and phobias, as well as supporting clients with depression and relationship issues. David's clinical approach emphasizes creating a safe and accepting environment, in which clients can explore their feelings. He employs a combination of cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, social skills development, and problem-solving strategies. Insight-oriented methods are also utilized to unpack underlying factors contributing to distress, ultimately promoting healthier functioning and relationships.
