The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Carpentersville, IL, is dedicated to nurturing advocates and educators who are committed to creating a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. We empower selected Fellows through a comprehensive, experiential program that eliminates tuition costs to ensure accessibility. During their six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows receive in-depth training in organic food systems, allowing them to engage in essential community initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops, developing school gardens, and facilitating educational sessions on food and ecological literacy. Following their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year where they apply their skills in partnership with local non-profits, driving initiatives that improve access to healthy foods and support farmers' markets and food coalitions. Our commitment to this vital work is rooted in the belief that enhanced food literacy and sustainable practices are crucial for fostering healthier communities. Applications are accepted annually until March, with the program running from May to October.
