The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Belvidere, IL, is dedicated to cultivating a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. By sponsoring, training, and empowering Fellows, we transform passionate individuals into advocates and educators who actively promote sustainable practices. Our program offers comprehensive organic food system education without tuition costs to ensure accessibility for all. Throughout the six-month experiential fellowship at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants engage in hands-on learning, including growing and distributing diverse crops on a market-style farm, conducting educational sessions in innovative healthcare, and supporting community initiatives like school gardens and farmers markets. Following their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profit organizations to implement their skills and foster greater access to healthy food. Applications are accepted until March of each year, with the fellowship running from May to October, creating opportunities for meaningful change in the food landscape.
