Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Alton, IL is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through this fellowship, participants engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus, gaining vital knowledge in organic food systems without incurring any tuition costs, ensuring accessibility for all. Fellows work alongside community partners to cultivate diversified crops on market-style farms, implement innovative educational sessions in healthcare, and nurture both school and community gardens. They also integrate food and ecological literacy into classrooms, promote farmers markets and direct-to-consumer sales, and establish distribution channels for increased access to nutritious foods. The fellowship culminates in a Community Action Year, where participants apply their skills with regional non-profit organizations to further strengthen community food initiatives. Applications are accepted until March for experiences running from May to October, aligning with our commitment to fostering lasting change in local food systems.
