Dr. Robert Merrell, a dedicated psychologist with a PhD, is deeply committed to providing empirically supported treatments that enhance the quality of life for his clients. With expertise in addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and trauma, he has cultivated a diverse practice that includes individual, couples, and family therapy. His experience spans various settings, with a focus on substance abuse, LGBTQ support, thought disorders, interpersonal skills, and ADHD management. Prior to establishing the Greater Gainesville Counseling & Wellness Center, LLC, Dr. Merrell practiced in private psychiatry for seven years. He earned his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and received a full scholarship for an M.A. in Spanish literature. His journey into psychology was influenced by a minor in philosophy and a strong desire to help others optimize their lives. He completed a fellowship at the University of Florida, where he obtained M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, both APA accredited, followed by a post-doctoral clinical fellowship focused on the treatment of pediatric and adult OCD, phobias, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder in the College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry.
